| On his sixth sailing-trip around the globe Henk wanted to become the first man ever to sail through the north-eastern passage single-handed. On this attempt he got caught with his ship in the arctic ice. Therefore he will have to spend at least nine months in Tiksi, Northern Sybiria. There he waits on board of his ship for the ice to melt.
In his film the director Werner Boote takes out on a quest for the relevancy of the 'Flying Dutchman' phenomenon and finds with Henk de Velde an adventurer and globetrotter, who's sheer unbelievable life shows astonishing parallels to Wagner's opera. |
