Werner Boote´s new documentary "Everything´s Under Control" (Alles unter Kontrolle) has just been completed and is hitting theaters in Austria these days.
His film "Plastic Planet" (2009) is one of those rare call-to-action documentaries that roused viewers to do something against plastics and accomplished countless changes in legislation, industry and society.
Werner Boote´s "Population Boom" (2013) examines the well-known nightmarish vision of overpopulation. It premiered internationally at the cph:dox filmfestival in Denmark and won the Green Me Award for best "green" documentary in Berlin.
Werner Boote won numerous awards, including the Golden Romy for "Best Documentary Feature".
Born in 1965 in Vienna, he started at the bottom as a best boy. He studied sociology, communications and theatre at the University of Vienna, and film-making at the Vienna Film-Academy. He was assistant director for Robert Dornhelm and Ulrich Seidl for many years.
Since 1993 Werner Boote has been writing and directing films, which initially focused on music and the arts. Some examples include: the music video ‘Anouk – Sacrifice’ (1999) which won the TMF Awards, ‘Andrea Bocelli – Tuscany Skies’ (2000) and ‘Kurt Rydl – The Gladiator’ (2003) which received the Nomination for "Best European TV Documentary" in 2003. In 1996, he made the political documentary ‘Suedtirol – Alto Adige’.
