Werner Boote´s Plastic Planet (2009) is one of those rare call-to-action documentaries that roused viewers to do something against plastics and accomplished countless changes in legislation, industry and society.  Boote won numerous awards, including the Golden Romy for "Best Documentary Feature".

His film Population Boom (2013) examines the well-known nightmarish vision of overpopulation. It premiered internationally at the cph:dox filmfestival in Denmark and won the Green Me Award for best "green" documentary in Berlin.

After the evocative documentary Everything´s Under Control (2015) about the self-evidence of surveillance, his new movie The Green Lie (2018) opened in Austria in March and is a box office hit. It´s world premiere took place at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
